Project Work Packages

The project is divided into 8 Work Packages (WP).

The specific objectives of this WP are i) to ensure the achievement of all project’s objectives on time, quality and costs, ii) to manage and coordinate smoothly and efficiently the project’s partners, ensuring the achievement of the specific objectives from each of the WPs, iii) to communicate a high-quality project reporting to the EC and iv) to define and monitor the protocols and those responsible for the management of the data used in the project.

The specific objectives of this WP are i) to determine the current state in data standards, technologies of the project and architectures, ii) to elicit requirements for the NOUS architecture and for each technological component of the project, iii) to create an evaluation framework of the project to be used for assessing its impact and iv) to develop a data life cycle framework that will govern the data flows within NOUS and update it after testing.

The specific objectives of this WP are i) to design the optimum of I/O communication architecture between HPC and NOUS, ii) to achieve high-speed, error-free and seamless classical large data exchange between HPC and NOUS, iii) to realize a software environment for encoding of classical large datasets to qubit-ready format for processing in a quantum computer and iv) to develop unconventional and novel cybersecurity architectures.

The specific objectives of this WP are i) to design and deliver innovative distributed architectures working with a traditional cloud service, ii) to facilitate a new paradigm in the edge computing exploiting structured parallel programming environments, based on FastFlow, which will enable operators to instantiate parallel applications as compositions of pre-defined, configurable parallel skeletons, iii) to deliver a technological breakthrough in FL approaches driven by first, a suite of algorithms for decentralised ML for user- and device-centric analytics and second, an FL-based hierarchical, algorithmic data and computation distribution layer and iv) to develop advanced interoperability mechanisms for seamless data sharing and exchange at the edge.

The specific objectives of this WP are i) to assess the sustainability of a Blockchain-based database in comparison with other existing solutions and provide a Blockchain Sustainability Index that will be usable in the future to qualify sustainability and scalability of blockchain-based databases, ii) to develop data services to enable efficient management and integration of existing and new Data Spaces, iii) to analyse the legal challenges related to blockchain used in the project and iv) to develop the auto-standardiser and data lake for translating data to specific standards in Mobility (≥1 standard), Energy (≥1), Green Deal (≥1).

The specific objectives of this WP are i) to design the architecture of the NOUS platform in such a way that it harmoniously integrates the components of cloud computing, edge and distributed storage, ii) to investigate and design a framework based on Trustworthy AI guidelines for data and model management at the Edge and Cloud layers, iii) to publish the platform architecture and the different components in an open way so that they can be reused by researchers, developers and integrators and iv) to assess legal mechanisms impacting cloud and edge technologies and iv) to develop the collaboration platform (Virtual Lab) for exchanging insights, knowledge and interests on data analytics and science.

The specific objectives of this WP are i) to create a quantification framework for data economy assessment that will act as a tool for policy makers and professionals working in Data Spaces, ii) to perform the evaluation of the project given the framework of T2.3, iii) to execute the testing of the technologies of the project through the use-cases, iv) to develop the roadmap for the extension of the NOUS and the guidelines for NOUS adoption.

The specific objectives of this WP are i) to disseminate NOUS technologies to the scientific community, the edge computing communities & groups, and the general stakeholders, raise awareness about the project and boost the exploitation activities, ii) to perform the appropriate communication activities to spread knowledge in various stakeholder communities and maximize the project’s visibility, iii) to manage the preparation, planning, and execution of exploitation of the project’s results and achievements, iv) to draft a sustainability plan for the maintenance of the project’s results following its completion and v) to monitor the market environment relevant to the work performed in the project in order to develop an efficient exploitation plan for the NOUS technologies.
